OAKLAND'S ART DECO BALLROOM SINCE 1926
During the Roaring Twenties, everyone loved a party. Built in 1926, the 7,500-square-foot California Ballroom showcases a majestic high gold leaf ceiling, as well as a large stage with curtains and spotlights and a sizable dance floor. An invitation to this impressive Art Deco landmark — just a few blocks from picturesque Lake Merritt — is an occasion to look forward to.
An improbable but true story: In the summer of 2017, I married the woman of my dreams at the California Ballroom. We had lived in the neighborhood for years, and we knew Ballroom was the perfect place the moment we stepped inside for a visit. We planned the party of a lifetime, and before the paper anniversary had passed, an unexpected opportunity arose for me to manage the space. I am thrilled to be behind the scenes of the Ballroom as it reaches nearly a century of operations, especially in light of upcoming restorations aimed at accentuating its timeless charm. I look forward to supporting you as you plan your perfect event here. - Paul Campagna, Director, California Ballroom
